MAC spoofing is done to enable bypassing of Access Control list on servers or routers by either hiding Computer on the Network or by allowing it to impersonate another Network device. Changing Address is typically done by manipulating software of device driver. MAC spoofing is a technique for changing the hard-coded Media Access Control Address of Network interface controller on a networked device. As a result, attacker can intercept, modify or block communicate to a legitimate MAC Address. Once the attackers ' MAC Address is linked to an authentic IP Address, attacker can receive any messages direct to the legitimate MAC Address. Address Resolution Protocol poisoning is when attacker SEND falsified ARP messages over Local Area Network to link attackers ' MAC Address with the IP Address of a legitimate computer or server on the Network.
